1 : I started by painting the red outer edge white.

2 : The red outer edge has had 3 coats of white, whilst the inner circle has had 2 coats of white.

3 : I measured and drew the width of the Martini stripes in the inner circle and then painted the border to the Martini stripe in light grey, leaving a white area at the bottom of the inner circle for a “Martini Racing Team” logo to go.

4 : I changed my mind about the white area for the logo & painted it light grey instead. I started to paint the light blue & red lines of the Martini stripe.

5 : More coats of paint to both the light blue & red Martini stripes & to the light grey inner circle. The first coat of dark blue to the Martini stripe. I drew out my curvy Martini stripe design for the outer edge on the left hand side of the sign.

6 : I started to paint my outer edge curvy design & the second coats to the dark blue stripes on the right side of the inner Martini stripe.

7 : More coats of paint to both the inner & outer dark blue Martini stripes. I also traced the left hand side outer edge curvy design & started to trace it onto the right hand side outer edge.

8 : All of the right hand side curvy design traced onto the sign & I started to paint that side.

9 : More coats of dark blue added to both outer edge sides.

10 : The red stripe & the light blue stripes started on the outer right hand side curvy design & the “Martini Racing Team” logo drawn out & temporarily positioned on the sign, ready to be traced out.

11 : I traced the logo out & outlined it in black paint. The remaining light blue stripes on the right hand side curvy design were painted with a first coat, with more coats to the dark blue curvy stripes on the right hand side & the light blue on the left hand side.

The completed “Road Signs Re-Imagined” Martini Porsche 917 LH Le Mans 1971 car of Gerard Larrousse and Vic Elford. The logo was painted, the sign distressed to show parts of the original reflective red outer circle, I signed the sign and it was given 3 coats of clear lacquer to help protect it.
